NEWSLETTER MARCH 2006 - SHABBAT FLYER

SATURDAY, MARCH 25TH AT 11.15 AM AT THE OLD MEETING HOUSE, COLEGATE, NORWICH

The Shabbat service to be held on Saturday, March 25th is to be taken by Rabbi Rachel Benjamin. Morning service number three, page 117 of Siddur Lev Chadash

The parashah, Torah portion, is Va'Yakhel-Pekuday, and we will be reading Exodus 35:1-10 and 35:30-36:1; the Haftarah reading will be I Kings 7:40-51. There will also be a blessing in the service for the new Hebrew month of Nisan, which begins on the following Wednesday evening, March 29th. That particular Shabbat is the last of the four special Shabbatot that occur in the six weeks before Pesach, and is known as Shabbat Ha’Chodesh, which means 'the Sabbath of the Month'. It is the Shabbat before the month of Nisan, and celebrates the arrival of the month during which the liberation of the Israelites from Egyptian slavery took place

After the services there will be a kiddush with coffee, tea and cakes to follow

Don't forget that this weekend Alan Lester, Liberal Judaism Generations Coordinator will be paying us a visit. The Liberal Judaism Generations Committee, addresses intergenerational aspects of the movement, and was responsible for last year's LJ Mitvah Day initiative, to which PJCEA so successfully contributed

It is no longer practical to donate gifts in kind. Place cash or a cheque made payable to the PJCEA in an envelope marked "Leeway" and hand or send it to Beverly who will arrange for it to be forwarded
