British-Israeli Music Day on the South Bank
Purcell Room Queen Elizabeth Hall and foyer

A non stop programme with four concerts and foyer events featuring works by
Ralph Vaughan Williams, Paul Ben-Haim, Michael Tippett, Tzvi Avni, Noam Sheriff, Alexander Goehr and young British and Israeli composers;and specially honouring esteemed Israeli Composer Tzvi Avni in his 82nd year.

Performed by Taiseer Elias, oud (Jerusalem), Rivka Golani, viola (London), Ilan Schul, clarinet (Jerusalem) with the Yehudi Menuhin School Orchestra conducted by Malcolm Singer and ensembles from the Royal College of Music, Trinity College of Music, Birmingham Conservatoire and the Jerusalem Academy plus winners of The Spiro Ark Israeli Music Competition.

The evening orchestral concert at the Queen Elizabeth Hall will include the world premiere of a version for oud and harp, (as originally intended) of Paul Ben-Haim's 'Sweet Psalmist of Israel'. Professor Taiseer Elias, Head of Arabic music at the Jerusalem Academy will be the oud soloist and a London soloist will play the harp. Other works in this concert will include Michael Tippett's Symphony no 2 and a work by Tzvi Avni.
