END-OF-MONTH SHABBAT SERVICE — EREV SHABBAT

FRIDAY JUNE 27TH
7:30 PM AT THE OLD MEETING HOUSE, COLEGATE, NORWICH

The Erev Shabbat service to be held on Friday, June 27th is to be taken by Rabbi Rachel Benjamin.

Rachel Benjamin writes: We’ll be reading from Service Number Three this month, beginning on page 79 in Siddur Lev Chadash. For your information, the Torah portion that week is Korach, Numbers 16:1-18:32, and the traditional Haftarah portion is I Samuel 11:14-12:22. The LJ lectionary provides I Samuel 11:14-12:11, I Samuel 12:12-22 and Ezekiel 44:15-31 as the three possible Haftarah readings. The summer month of Tammuz starts on the following Friday.

After the service there will be a kiddush, with coffee, tea and cakes to follow.

The memory of the righteous is a blessing

Yahrzeits we know about are read out at the service. It is also fitting to perform a mitzvah eg candle lighting or ark opening at that time. Mitzvot are arranged by Deborah Carpenter, but don’t wait for her to contact you. Email deborah.lang@btopenworld.com — or just come along to the service

Michele Paton maintains the Yahrzeit List. If you would like a family member or friend mentioned in shul on the anniversary of their passing, give Michele the necessasry details ie name, relationship, anniversary date, in writing. You can email Michele at michele.paton@gmail.com
